Jack Of All Trades...

 ... "master of none". This quote always used to trip me up. I always felt that as an artist I have to stick to one thing. Pick one style. Pick one area of expertise. Don't get me wrong. There is value in specialization. No doubt. However there is something to be said for generalization as well. Human beings are complex creatures and this means we are multi-faceted. There is great power in tapping into your different interests, no matter how weird it might come out to others. You like 2d character design, but you also have an interest in sculpting. Fire up Zbrush and give it a go. You don't have to put yourself in a box. 


To end, I'll leave you guys with the full quote. "A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one."

Don't Dim Your Light

 You heard me right. You don't have to dim your lights for others even if they're intimidated by how brilliantly you shine. Your job is to give yourself the latitude to fully express your own genius and share what you have to offer. Sometimes in showing up fully as who we are, we might irritate the insecurity in others because our liberation might draw attention to how they have been self-censoring and stopping themselves from being truly who they were created to be. As kids, we are taught to minimize who we are because others would find it disruptive and for most people, this conditioning would follow them even into adulthood. Now is the time to cast off those old patterns of thinking and embrace the fullness of who we are. No more hiding. Let us see you shine. If they can't handle the brightness, ask them to get a pair of shades.

  If you want love, give love. If you want friendship be friendly towards others. If you feel others don't empathize with you then ask yourself 'Am I empathetic?'. The universe is like a mirror. It can only reflect back to you that which you give it.
